Saint Mary's will send Daniel Krutik and Matis Bot to compete at this year's Milwaukee Tennis Classic in the team's first tournament of the season.
MORAGA, Calif. — With a team full of new and returning talent, the Saint Mary's men's tennis team will begin the 2018-19 season this week at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic on Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 20-23. Participating for the Gaels during the weekend tournament will be Daniel Krutik and Matis Bot.

THE PLAYERS
Krutik is one of two seniors on the Gaels' roster this season, the other being Brian Lee, and was a staple in the Gaels' rotation last season. Krutik mainly played out of the five and six singles spots and picked up a conference win against Pacific. The senior also teamed up with Chambers Easterling for a doubles set against UC Santa Barbara.
Bot played mostly in the fourth singles spot last season and had big conference wins against San Diego and Pacific. The junior was largely utilized in doubles play as well, appearing in a team-leading 17 sets, and played with five different Gael partners during the spring season.
THE DRAW
Bot will square off with Abdoul Ouattara of Nebraska in the Round of 64 while Krutik will face Robert Turzak from NC State in singles action. The tandem will also face NC State's Odgen/Shick duo in the opening round of the doubles draw.
