MTEN | Gaels Travel to SoCal to Face Anteaters, Bruins

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's will look to come back from their loss against No. 10 Stanford as they travel to Southern California this weekend for a pair of matches against UC Irvine on Friday and UCLA on Saturday.
ABOUT THE GAELS
The Gaels were on the road last weekend to begin their 2019 season and faced off versus No. 10 Stanford, however, the Gaels ultimately fell 0-7. The doubles pair Damon Kesaris and Matis Bot came close in their match against Kumar/Sah, but dropped the contest 7-5. Saint Mary's played in three singles matches against Cardinals' ranked players, but were overcome by all three.
Kesaris has led the Gaels throughout their fall season as the top singles player and will look to continue his efforts in the spring. He was also recently picked for the All-West Coast Conference Preseason Men's Team voted by the 10 head coaches in the WCC.
ABOUT THE ANTEATERS
To start their spring season, UC Irvine is coming off a 2-5 loss at home against Utah State last weekend. With their best efforts, the Anteaters were able to pick up two wins in singles play as Sasha Krasnov defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-4 and Aaron Bailey won 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, respectively. In the fall, UC Irvine had nine players that competed at the ITA Southwest Regional Championships and recorded eight victories in singles action.
ABOUT THE BRUINS
UCLA had a successful spring season last year as they went 30-3 overall and 8-0 in the Pacific-12 Conference. Connor Rapp led the Bruins in singles play last season as he went 8-5 overall and has also picked up multiple wins during the fall. The doubles pair Bryce Pereira and Max Wild carried the team with a 5-1 overall record last year and look to continue to lead the Bruins' doubles efforts in the spring.
