SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Saint Mary's (1-4) fought until the very last set on Saturday against the Gauchos (3-1) but ultimately fell in a nail biter contest, 4-3.

In singles competition, Mariia Kozyreva rolled to a 6-1, 6-2 win in the top singles slot while the Gaels also picked up wins from Chloe Goyette and Jordan Harris. Goyette came from behind and won a close second set before cruising to victory, 1-6, 7-6 (10-8), 6-0. Harris, like Kozyreva, also won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3.

Clementine Clement and Liesl Pieters took the lone doubles set for the Gaels in the No. 3 spot with a final score of 6-2. Kozyreva and Aubane Ville were narrowly defeated in the third and decisive doubles match with a 7-5 tiebreaker.
