GOLF | Grauman in Fourth, Gaels in Third at WCC Championship

Ryan Grauman led Saint Mary's with a 3-under total through 18 holes in Stockton.

STOCKTON, Calif. — Saint Mary's continued their history of strong play at the WCC Championship under head coach Scott Hardy as they sit in third after one round at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

THE LEADERBOARD
Ryan Grauman was a major key to the team's 5-under combined score for the day as he shot 3-under to finish tied for fourth in the field of 45. The freshman has led the Gaels' efforts twice this season with top performances at the Showdown in the Rockies and Saint Mary's Invitational.

SMC trails only San Francisco (14-under) and BYU (10-under) heading into Day 2's action. Behind Saint Mary's is LMU, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, Pepperdine, Pacific, and San Diego, respectively.

Michael Slesinski and Ethan Farnam each came in at 1-under to tie for 11th. Ethan Ashbrook was even for the day and Blake Hathcoat rounded out the Gaels at 3-over.

Only three competitors are ahead of Grauman in the individual standings: leader Toby Briggs from USF (6-under), BYU's Peter Kuest (5-under), and USF's Christoffer Palsson (5-under).
