SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Gaels won their third match of the season against Santa Clara on Saturday and improved to 15-6 on the season.
Three of the five pairs defeated their opponents in straight sets on Saturday, while Lindsey Knudsen and Sarah Chase were awarded the win after a medical situation ended the match. Juniors Alexsa "Crash" Parker and Sienna Young fought tough and took their match to three sets, but ultimately fell. Sophomore Morgan Kendrick and junior Alex O'Sullivan paired up for the first time this season and held the Broncos to 16 points and 13 respectively in their two sets.
"Today, as 5s, I was placed with a new partner Alex O'Sullivan and we figured out how to play with each other quickly," said sophomore Morgan Kendrick. "The wind is very different at Santa Clara but Alex and I figured out how to win using the wind to our advantage. The Gaels had a great win today and took control of the game."
