MORAGA, Calif. — The Gaels have just one matchup this week as they will host the Pacific Tigers on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's had a difficult start to their home stand last week as they fell to both the Toreros and the Cougars. The Gaels were held to just eight points in the first quarter against San Diego and struggled to make a comeback after. SMC then hosted BYU on Saturday and despite a strong start in the first half, the Gaels were unable to hold off the Cougars and eventually fell by ten points. Saint Mary's has now dropped their last four conference competitions after going undefeated through their first four games of WCC play. The Gaels are now tied for fifth place in the conference with the Pacific Tigers behind San Diego and Portland who are tied for third. Saturday's matchup against the Tigers will mark the halfway point in the Gaels conference schedule as Pacific is the only WCC team that SMC has yet to play.

GAELS FROM THREE
The Gaels continue to have great success from beyond the arc this season, including in both of the contests last week. Saint Mary's shot a combined 37.7 three-point percentage over the course of the two games and they made a total of 20 treys. Sophomore Taycee Wedin led the team with nine threes (9-for-16) and shot a combined 56.2 three-point percentage for the week. Sophomore Sam Simons also heated up last week as she went 5-for-11 from the three-point line and scored a combined 21 points in both games. Saint Mary's remains ranked first in the conference in three pointers attempted (507), made (187), and per game (9.8), which all rank highly in the nation as well. The Gaels are also ranked second in the WCC and 17th in the nation with a three-point field goal percentage of 37.3, which is just behind Gonzaga at 39.7.

PACIFIC
The Tigers are 11-8 so far this season and have a split conference record of 4-4. Pacific is currently on a three-game skid, however two of the three contests were decided by two points of fewer. Most recently, UOP was at home facing off against San Diego when they lost 66-64 despite a number of big runs in the final quarter of action. Prior to the loss against the Toreros, the Tigers took conference-leading BYU into overtime, but eventually fell by ten points. Pacific is currently tied for fourth place in the conference with Saint Mary's. UOP has a losing record (4-5) on the road this season and they have only won two away games against conference opponents. The Tigers are ranked first in the conference and 28th nationally with a total of 255 made free throws this season. SMC holds the all-time record against Pacific (11-8), however the Tigers have won two out of the last three contests between the teams.
