GOLF | Hathcoat Leads Gaels After Two Rounds at La Purisima

LOMPOC, Calif. — Saint Mary's is in second place after two rounds at the La Purisima College Invite at La Purisima Golf Course. Blake Hathcoat leads the team at 3-under and is third in the 31-man field going into Tuesday.

THE LEADERBOARD
The Gaels are 1-over as a team and currently trail first place San Diego by 12 strokes. SMC was 3-over after the first 18 holes before shooting a 2-under 286 middle round to take firm hold of second place. They lead third place Loyola Marymount by six strokes and are far ahead of BYU who is 25-over.

Hathcoat was the team's top performer with a 3-under first round followed by an even second. The senior was incredibly steady on the final 18 holes as he totaled 16 pars against the challenging course. Michael Slesinski backed up Hathcoat with a 1-over total and is tied for eighth.

Rounding out the lineup for Saint Mary's is Ethan Ashbrook at 3-over (t-11th), Ryan Grauman at 4-over (t-14th), and Ethan Farnam with a 6-over total (t-17th).

Evan Peterson led the team's individual efforts and is t-14th at 4-over. Dylan DeProsperis is 6-over while Jonathan Curran is at 10-over in his first ever tournament.

San Diego's Charlie Reiter currently owns the top spot on the medalist leaderboard at 5-under, ahead of Hathcoat by two strokes.
