GOLF | Saint Mary's Finishes Fourth at Pasadera College Invite

MONTEREY, Calif. — Saint Mary's finished in fourth place out of five teams in their first fall tournament of the season held at The Club at Pasadera.

After a strong opening day which saw them tied for second heading into the last round, the Gaels slipped a bit and shot 4-over on the day to fall to fourth. Saint Mary's finished ahead of BYU by 13 strokes and behind Pepperdine, the tournament winner, as well as Loyola Marymount and San Diego.

Ethan Ashbrook ended up as the team's leader at 4-under in the tournament and tied for 12th in the 41-golfer field. Blake Hathcoat finished just one shot behind his teammate to tie for 14th.

Michael Slesinski had the best day of any Gael golfers and shot 3-under to bring his score to even. Ethan Farnam also finished even after going 1-over in the final round and Ryan Grauman rounded out the lineup at a combined 7-over.

Dylan VanderVeer led the team's individuals with a 2-over score after three rounds. Evan Peterson trailed behind closely at 5-over and freshmen Dylan DeProsperis (8-over) and Zack Missigman (18-over) put the cap on their first ever collegiate event.

The Waves won the Pasadera Collegiate Invitational by shooting 46-under through 54 holes. Seven of the top nine spots on the leaderboard were Waves including Joshua McCarthy who took medalist honors at 14-under.
