GOLF | Saint Mary's Ends Fall Campaign at Rustic Canyon

MOORPARK, Calif. — Saint Mary's had their best round of the Rustic Collegiate Classic on Friday at even par but were unable to climb up any spots in the leaderboard and ultimately finished in fifth place.

THE LEADERBOARD
Blake Hathcoat was the team's top finisher at t-12th after an even par final round. The senior had his best 18 holes of the tourney on Friday to finish at 4-over overall. Ethan Ashbrook finished two strokes behind and ended tied for 17th. Rounding out the lineup for the Gaels was Evan Peterson at 8-over, Michael Slesinski at 9-over, and Ethan Farnam at 13-over.

Zack Missignman led the team's individuals at 12-over across the three rounds and was followed by Dylan DeProsperis at 17-over and Ryan Hartanto at 21-over.

Pepperdine won the event by shooting 21-under as a group. The Waves finished 22 strokes ahead of second place San Diego. Joshua McCarthy led the charge for Pepperdine and won medalist honors with a 7-under combined total.

FINAL ROUND HIGHLIGHTS

Slesinski, Peterson, and Missigman all shot 2-under on the front nine.
Hathcoat had nine pars on the front nine.
Farnam had the team's only eagle of the event on the 582 yard par-5 13th.
Peterson had three straight birdies on holes 11 to 13.
Four Gaels had birdies on the fifth hole.

UP NEXT: SPRING SEASON

The Rustic Canyon Collegiate Classic was the team's final tournament of the fall season. The Gaels return to the course after the winter recess for their spring season. Tournament dates and details will be announced in the coming weeks.
