GOLF | Hathcoat To Participate in The Patriot All-America Invite

MORAGA, Calif. — Gaels' senior golfer Blake Hathcoat will end the 2020 year by playing in a memorable, prestigious tournament this week at The Patriot All-American Invitational.
The tournament features 84 of the nation's best amateur golfers hailing from all three divisions of the NCAA as well as NAIA, NJCAA, and the AJGA ranks. The 54-hole event spans across three days beginning today and ending on the 31st and will take place at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
Hathcoat tees off at 10:30 a.m. today and will play alongside Davis Bryant from Colorado State and Dan Bradbury of Lincoln Memorial. Results for the event can be followed live here. The event will also be live streamed and can be watched by clicking here.
The unique aspect of the event is that it also honors our military heroes. At the opening ceremony, each golfer receives and carries a commemorative PING golf bag that bears the name and branch of a fallen or wounded hero from their hometown or school. Additionally, all of the golfers have the opportunity to visit Luke Air Force Base, the training center for our nation's F-16 and F-35 fighter pilots. There, they meet with the General, fighter pilots and crew, and tour the base while participating in activities rarely seen by civilians.
The players carry the bag and honor that soldier throughout the week. Upon conclusion, the bags are shipped back to the player's school where they are auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor charity.
The senior will be playing for his uncle, Captain Randy D. Roby, who was assigned to the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base near Marysville, CA as a pilot, instructor, and flight examiner for the U-2 "Dragon Lady" spy plane. You can read more about Captain Roby by clicking here.
Hathcoat is currently ranked No. 42 in the country among DI golfers according to Golfstat and has a stroke average this season of 71.54.
