MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's men's golf returns to the course on Feb. 20 in Hawaii for the three-day John Burns Intercollegiate.

THE LINEUP
The Gaels will send Blake Hathcoat, Ash Hakim, Michael Slesinski, Dylan VanderVeer, and Ethan Farnam to compete in the tournament.
THE FIELD
In the field, there will be 20 teams competing alongside No. 64 Saint Mary's with 13 teams ranked within the Top-100 including four in the Top 15 – No. 6 Arizona, No. 10 Texas A&M, No. 14 North Carolina, and No. 15 BYU.
Rounding out the field are No. 28 California, No. 67 Cal State Fullerton, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, No. 43 Illinois, No. 58 Long Beach State, No. 40 New Mexico, Northern Colorado, No. 87 Santa Clara, UC Irvine, UNC Wilmington, No. 78 UNLV, No. 57 Utah, UTEP, Virginia, and Washington State.
LAST YEAR AT JOHN BURNS INTERCOLLEGIATE
Saint Mary's finished ahead of two ranked opponents, No. 49 Arizona and their WCC rival, No. 24 BYU. No. 11 Arizona State claimed the tournament title with a 26-under combined score while No. Texas A&M (21-under) and No. 2 Duke (19-under) wrapped up the top-3.
Saint Mary's earned a sixth place finish in the field of 20 at the tournament last year as Slesinski and Hathcoat both finished tied for 12th to lead the team. Hathcoat shot a 2-under while Slesinski went 1-under to finish at 5-under across the three rounds.
Ethan Ashbrook tied Hathcoat for the best round of the day at 2-under. The freshman birdied three of his final five holes to wrap up the tournament tied for 22nd at 3-under. All five Gaels had below par rounds as Farnam and Ryan Grauman also shot 1-under.
LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels opened their 2020 season last month in the Arizona Intercollegiate and recorded a seventh place finish out of the competitive 14-team field. Saint Mary's surpassed No. 44 Long Beach State in the tournament by two strokes. SMC was led by Hathcoat who wrapped up the event at 2-under and tied for ninth.
Slesinski came in t-19th at 2-over and was followed by Farnam at 4-over, Evan Peterson at 12-over, and Hakim at 16-over. VanderVeer, who was competing as an individual, had a solid final round with an even score to end tied for 31st.
No. 11 Arizona took the team title at 21-under and were trailed by No. 12 Baylor (12-under) and No. 17 Washington (even) to round out the top three. Out of the 84 competitors, only 14 shot even or better across the three rounds as Sewailo Golf Club proved to be a tough challenge.
