BVB | Parker, Christensen named Preseason All-WCC

SAN BRUNO, Calif. — With the 2020 beach volleyball season underway but conference games yet to take place, the annual preseason coaches poll and preseason All-WCC team has been released by the conference office. On the heels of a very successful 2019 season, the Gaels have landed a pair of players on the 11-team list, and the Gaels come in third place in the preseason polls.
In their junior seasons, both Alexsa "Crash" Parker and Selbie Christensen were integral parts of a Gaels team that lost in the conference championship match last year. While they did not play as a pair in 2019, Parker was teamed up with Sienna Young and wound up posting a record of 19-10 overall, playing in the threes all season. Christensen was in multiple pairings and put up a combined record of 19-9 playing in the fives.
This season, Parker and Christensen began the year as the number-one pairing for the Gaels in their season-opening matches against No. 11 Cal and No. 14 Grand Canyon, where they were defeated in both matches.
Takin first place in the preseason poll this year is LMU, with six of the seven first-place votes, while Pepperdine is slotting in second with the remaining first-place vote. LMU beat the Gaels in the conference championship last year, while both teams are ranked inside the top-ten in the NCAA preseason polls.
