SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced their softball All-Academic Team today and Gaels' senior center fielder Halle Sullivan was chosen as one of 11 student-athletes to make the team. Sullivan graduated this spring with a degree in accounting and a 3.65 GPA.
This was the first year Sullivan was named to the All-Academic Team after being named an honorable mention in 2018. On the field, Sullivan batted .260 with a .490 slugging percentage. She was first or tied for first on the roster in extra base hits, doubles, and stolen bases while also providing sterling defense in the outfield.
In addition to Sullivan, five other Gaels were named honorable mentions: Nikki Alexander, Jaymee Campbell, Sofia Earle, Kenedi Lopes, and Alyssa Vessel.
Alexander was a senior business administration major who posted a 3.37 GPA. In addition to starting all 26 games at the keystone, she was second on the team with 12 walks and had a .330 on-base percentage. Campbell also graduated this spring with a business administration degree and a 3.35 GPA. She appeared in 15 games this season including five starts and picked up a triple.
The sophomore Earle earned an honorable mention nod in her first year of eligibility with a 3.36 GPA while studying economics. The left-handed pitcher led the team in ERA at 3.23, struck out 24 batters in 26 innings, and had a .248 batting average against.
Lopes is a junior English major who had a 3.67 GPA. On the field, she had eight RBIs, scored 11 times, and batted .232 in 25 games. Vessel did not see any playing time during her sophomore season but had an excellent 3.50 GPA while studying allied health sciences.
As a team, the Gaels had an incredible 3.47 GPA this semester which was third highest among the 14 programs at SMC.
