MORAGA, Calif. — Fresh off of their record-breaking 2026 campaign that saw the Gaels win their third straight WCC title and earn a regional championship berth, Saint Mary's Softball will be adding a new coach to their staff with plenty of championship experience of her own, as Jazmyn Jackson will join on as the team's hitting coach. Jackson is well known throughout the East Bay and throughout the game of Softball, for her time at Cal and competing for Team USA.
"We are thrilled to have Jazmyn joining our coaching staff and our team." noted Head Coach Sonja Garnett, "She has a stellar playing and professional career to her name, and is already showing that she can connect with athletes and teach the game. We look forward to having her help elevate our hitters, outfield and entire team."
Originally from San Jose, Jackson had a stellar career at Cal, earning All-Pac-12 honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017. During her time in Berkeley, Jackson received a pair of call ups to the US National team, earning gold medals at the 2016 WBSC Women's World Championship and the 2017 Pan-Am Championship.
Following her graduation from Cal, Jackson embarked on her professional career, competing both in the US (Scrapyard Fastpitch, California Commotion, Athletes Unlimited, Atlanta Smoke) and Overseas (Italy, Netherlands, Mexico). Most recently Jackson played for the Atlanta Smoke of the Professional Softball League, and helped lead her team to the 2026 PSL title.
Jackson's coaching resume dates back to her time playing collegiately as an individual and group hitting coach for The A2B Method, BAD Hitters Club and 510 Pride Fastpitch. At the collegiate level, she most recently served as a hitting and outfield coach at Howard University in 2019. That season, Jackson, alongside first year Head Coach Tori Tyson, helped Howard make an 11 win improvement from 2018 to 2019, helping lay the groundwork for the Bison to become an eventual three time NCAA Regional participant under Tyson. As a team, the Bison improved from hitting 0.234 in 2018, to 0.289 in her second. Individually, Jackson helped in the early career development of Howard program greats such as Kalita Dennis (0.367, 47 2B, 11 3B, 27 HR, 143 R, 154 RBI), Camille Navarro (0.380, 52 2B, 12 3B, 129 R, 83 RBI), Xzarria Simmons (0.342, 57 R, 45 RBI) and Trinity Gibbs (0.304, 32 2B, 44 R, 39 RBI).
Jackson will inherit quite the formidable lineup in year one on staff for the Gaels, returning All-WCC sluggers Sam Buckley, Alex Cutonilli, Hannah Ferguson, Braxton Brown and Camille Lara.
