SAN BRUNO, Calif. — The West Coast Conference announced their men's golf All-Academic Team today and for the third time in his career,
Blake Hathcoat has made the list. The senior posted a 3.60 GPA while studying business administration.Â
Two other Gaels were named All-Academic honorable mentions: Kent Kao and Ash Hakim. Kao had a 3.95 GPA while earning his master's degree in business analytics this year while the junior Hakim recorded a 3.87 GPA in business administration.Â
Hathcoat has been named to the All-Academic Team every year he has been eligible while at Saint Mary's. To be eligible for the award this spring, student-athletes were required to have at least a 3.20 GPA and be in sophomore standing.Â
In addition to excelling in the classroom, Hathcoat was one of the Gaels' top performers this season with a 72.10 stroke average, one top-10 finish, and three top-20 places. His best showing of the season came at the Arizona Intercollegiate in January where he wrapped up play tied for ninth in a field of 83.Â
Hakim competed in all but one of the team's tournaments this year and recorded a 73.29 stroke average with two top-20 finishes. He posted the team's best score in the first tournament of the season at the Husky Invitational. Kao competed as an individual at the Saint Mary's Invitational and shot a 73 in the final round.Â
