LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's capped off a busy week of WCC play with a 2-1 record, with their last match coming in Portland with a 3-2 win in five sets. Saint Mary's set a program record with 19 aces against the Pilots, eclipsing their rally scoring record of 16 that was set in 2007 against Portland, and breaking the school's all-time record of 18 which was done against Hofstra in 1995. It is actively the second-most aces in a match this season in the NCAA, with only Youngstown State having more (24). Saint Mary's put up nine service aces in the first set alone, and six different Gaels had multiple aces. Alosina Thompson led the way with six, the fifth most in SMC history, while Makenna Joyce had four for the first time in her career.

ABOUT LOYOLA MARYMOUNT
The Lions are one of the best teams in a loaded WCC, starting the year off with a 12-2 record and recently losing their first match after a 12-match winning streak. Their season began with a loss at #8 Purdue before they rattled off 12-straight wins, falling in five sets to #23 Pepperdine on Saturday. Five of the first six conference matches for LMU are on the road, meaning they will have a home-heavy schedule down the stretch. The hit well, serve well, and block well, and are led by Kari Geissberger, one of the best killers in the conference, with 228 kills, more than double anyone else on the team.

ABOUT PEPPERDINE
The Waves have only suffered defeat once this season, coming at the hands of the current #11 team in the country, Washington. They've had their chances at defeat in WCC play, however, with winless Santa Clara and the LMU Lions taking the Waves to five sets. The key to Pepperdine's success rests on the shoulders of Rachel Ahrens, who is doing just about everything. She leads the WCC in kills (242), kills per set (4.65), and service aces (30). She also ranks second on the Waves in digs and fourth on the team in blocks, making her a bonafide star in the conference.
