PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – The strong play of freshman Mitchell Hoey continued on day two of the 15th annual SMC Invitational with fellow freshman Connor Reis joining him near the top of the leaderboard.
Hoey climbed four spots to second overall among the 104 golfers at the tournament after shooting a 70 on day two to sit at 6-under par overall and is tied for second in birdies made with 10. Reis shot up nine spots to third place after shooting a 68 on day two to make 5-under par for the two rounds combined.
Michael Slesinski made par on day two with a 71 to climb 23 spots on the leadboard as he looks to finish strong in the tournament after making an eagle in round two. Zack Missigman is fifth overall in par-threes at 2-under and Kristian Bressum has the most pars made of any golfer with 27.
The Gaels as a team slid down in the standings to 11th overall. Newcomers Hoey and Reis are competing as individuals and are not part of the team score.
