MTEN | Aggies Hold Off Gaels, 4-2

LOGAN, Utah — Saint Mary's (3-9) played in their final non-conference match of the season on Thursday against Utah State (8-4) but fell 4-2 to the Aggies. 

USU earned the doubles points with wins on Courts 1 and 3. The Gaels' No. 2 tandem of Damon Kesaris and Fabian Roensdorf was locked up in a tight 6-6 match before the contest was called. 

Saint Mary's pulled ahead with back-to-back wins from their top two players in singles. James Watt got the ball rolling for SMC with a straight set 6-3, 6-4 win on Court 2 before Kesaris knocked off the Aggies' top player Sergui Bucur with a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 decision. 

Utah State would go on to take the next three singles matches to claim the contest. USU got wins on Courts 3, 4, and 5 to earn their eighth win of the season. 

Saint Mary's will now face off with BYU tomorrow in the second match of their Utah road trip. Links to watch the action can be found on the team's schedule page.
