MORAGA, Calif. — Almost exactly one month since their last tournament, Saint Mary's will take the course again this week in Southern California at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic. The tournament is co-hosted by San Diego and San Diego State and takes place over three days at San Diego Country Club.Â

THE LINEUP
Saint Mary's will roll out a lineup of Blake Hathcoat, Ethan Ashbrook, Ethan Farnam, Dylan VanderVeer, and Michael Slesinski for the tournament.Â
Hathcoat, Farnam, VanderVeer, and Slesinski all competed at the tournament last year with Slesinski posting the best score on the team at 6-under.Â

16 teams will compete at the tournament including No. 20 San Diego State, No. 22 New Mexico, Colorado State, USC, Washington, Air Force, Nebraska, Northern Illinois, UC Davis, BYU, San Diego, Cal Poly, Colorado, UCLA, San Jose State, and Denver.Â
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
Saint Mary's has been regulars at the Lamkin Grips San Diego Classic as this will be the team's fifth year in a row they have competed at the event.Â
The Gaels' best finish in the previous four events was in 2019 when SMC finished 3rd out of 15 teams. Blake Hathcoat tied for first in the 92-competitor field in that tournament and posted a 6-under overall score.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's opened 2021 off on the right foot with a third place finish at the Nick Watney Invite. The Gaels posted the fourth lowest score on the final day at 6-under to claim bronze in the 9-team field.
Blake Hathcoat and
Evan Peterson tied for seventh on the medalist leaderboard at 7-under to lead the team.
Ethan Farnam shot 2-under in the final round to wrap up t-13th,
Ethan Ashbrook finished one stroke behind to tie for 15th, and
Dylan VanderVeer was just one stroke back of Ashbrook to finish t-21st. The team's lone individual,
Michael Slesinski, was 3-under overall during the tournament and also finished tied for 15th place
