GOLF | Gaels Shoot 14-Under in Second Round at WCC Championship

HENDERSON, Nev. — Saint Mary's posted the second best score on Friday at the West Coast Conference Championship held at Reflection Bay Golf Club to jump two places on the leaderboard and sit at sixth heading into the final round.
THE LEADERBOARD
The Gaels combined for a 14-under performance in the second round of the tourney which was 17 strokes better than yesterday. SMC was the only team to climb in the standings and are now just six strokes back of third place at 11-under.
Saint Mary's had three golfers shoot 4-under par on Friday. Ethan Ashbrook, Ethan Farnam, and Evan Peterson all recorded 68's to lead the team and count their scores. The remaining two Gaels, Blake Hathcoat and Michael Slesinski, also matched scores at 2-under.
Ashbrook currently owns the team's lowest score through two rounds at 4-under and is tied for 10th. The junior was SMC's top finisher at the PING Cougar Classic last week as he placed within the top-10. Peterson had the biggest improvement of any Gael as he took 11 fewer strokes compared to the first day.
No. 8 Pepperdine leads the field by a wide margin at 35-under through two rounds. The Waves were the only team to outperform Saint Mary's on Friday at 16-under. Trailing behind is BYU at 20-under, No. 25 San Francisco at 17-under, San Diego at 14-under, and Loyola Marymount at 12-under.
Clay Feagler from Pepperdine sits atop the medalist leaderboard at 11-below par. His teammate Dylan Menante is one stroke behind in sole possession of second. The full leaderboard can be seen here.
SECOND ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
The WCC Championship concludes tomorrow with the third and final round. Saint Mary's tees off at 7:50 in the morning. A complete list of pairings for the round can be seen here.
