MALIBU, Calif. — Saint Mary's (4-12, 1-4 WCC) began their Los Angeles road trip on Friday with a match against the Pepperdine Waves but came up short in a 4-0 loss.

As a team, the Waves (10-5, 3-0 WCC) rank just outside the nation's top-25 at No. 30 and they quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the match by picking up two doubles wins in 6-1 fashion.

Pepperdine would clinch the match with singles wins on courts 5, 6, and 2, respectively. Matis Bot was leading in his match as the Gaels' No. 4 player before it was called. Damon Kesaris and Fabian Roensdorf also forced close first sets in their matches but both contests were ended prematurely.

Saint Mary's will return to the court tomorrow to take on Loyola Marymount at their home courts. First serve is scheduled for noon.
