SAN MATEO, Calif. — With one of the best seasons of Saint Mary's Women's Soccer on the pitch during the 2021 spring season, the Gaels proved their success spanned much further than just in their sport. Just announced by the West Coast Conference, 11 Gaels have earned Honorable Mention selections for this year's All-Academic Team, with just one team in the conference landing more student-athletes on this year's team.
Two of the 11 Gaels earning honors from the WCC –
Malia Allison and
AnnaMaria DiGeronimo – are two of the best student-athletes at Saint Mary's. Members of the AD Honor Roll for the top-ten GPAs on campus, DiGeronimo owns a 3.91 GPA as a Biology major while Allison sports a 3.96 GPA as a History and JCL double-major. They were also some of the leaders on the pitch, where they scored the second and fourth most points on the Gaels this season.
Nine other Gaels found their way on the list, with all them qualifying for the first times in their SMC careers:
To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to her team.
