MORAGA, Calif. – It was a perfect day for tennis on Saturday in tennis in Moraga, as the Saint Mary's Women's Tennis team took the courts for Day 2 of the SMC Fall Invite.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
Double's action once again got the day started, as three Gaels pairing were active on the courts.Â

Olivia Rook and Stefanie Silva faced off against Pacific's Tomi Main and Alexis Sam. Rook and Silva got off to a quick start, but the Pacific pairing were able to storm back, winning the match 6-4.Â

Gabriela Tevez and Jamie Pope matched up against Cal State Fresno's Leann Serna and Gianna Mastro. The Fresno duo got off to a hot start and never looked back, beating the Gaels pairing 6-3.Â

After their back-to-back wins in doubles yesterday,
Lene Mari Hovda and Madison Weekley took on UC Davis' Olive Maunupau and Kristina Evloeva in the red semifinals bracket. Hovda and Weekley fought hard to match the Davis duo, but ultimately fell short, losing 6-4.Â

GAELS SHARP IN SINGLES
The Gaels proved to be a formidable force in the single's bracket as well, with
Gabriela Tevez leading the way with a confident round of 16 performance.Â
Â
Tevez took on University of San Francisco's Alicia Yue, winning 6-2, 6-3. Tevez then faced off against UC Davis' Kaia Wolfe in the red quarterfinals, where she kept her impressive winning streak going, besting the Davis player 6-2, 6-4.

Tevez plays in the red semifinals at 10:30 am on Sunday against Sacramento State's Grace McSkimming. Â

After losing in her opening singles match yesterday, Jamie Pope took on University of San Francisco's Qianer, in the red consolation bracket, where the two traded point after point in a thrilling two set match.

Qiu got off to the quicker start, besting Pope in the first set 6-2. Pope bounced back in the second to win 6-3, setting up a second set tiebreak. Qiu's powerful serve proved to be too much to handle, as Pope lost the tiebreak 10-3.Â

Madison Weekley played in a back-and-forth match with University of San Francisco's Azaria Hayes. The USF player started well, taking the opening set 6-4. Weekley bounced back in the second set to win 6-2, before Hayes regained control in third set to win the set 6-4, and the match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.Â
FAMILIAR FACES
In the blue bracket, Olivia Rook advanced in the consolation bracket after UC Davis' Kristina Evloeva was forced to withdraw due to injury.Â

Rook was then paired up against the Academy of Art's Yun Nicole Shiau, where Rook battled from behind to advance to the consolation semi-finals. Shiau stole the first set from Rook 6-3, but Rook was unphased, winning the second set 6-0. The two then went to a tiebreak, and after a back-and forth fight, Rook prevailed to win 10-8.Â

Rook will play in the consolation semi-finals on Sunday morning at 10:30 am.Â

Stefanie Silva, who was Also in the blue consolation bracket, had a dominant showing against Pacific's Alexis Sam, winning 6-0, 6-4. Silva then faced off later in the afternoon against Cal Poly's Sasha Ozerets, winning a gritty two set match.

The first set went to a tiebreak, and despite her best efforts, Ozerets won the tiebreak 7-5. Silva bounced back in a big way in the second set, winning 6-4 to force a second set tiebreak. Silva was all business in the tiebreak, winning 10-2.Â

Silva will face a familiar opponent Sunday morning in the consolation semi-finals as she comes up against her teammate Olivia Rook.Â

After a tense three set match in her opening win yesterday,
Lene Mari Hovda once again found herself in the middle of a three-set battle Saturday morning against Sacramento State's Mayya Gorbunova.Â
Â
Gorbunova took the opening set 6-2, but Hovda was able to claw her way back in the second set, winning 7-5. Hovda used her second set momentum to her advantage, closing out the win in the third and final set 6-1.Â
Â
The senior then took on Portland's Sally Pethybridge in the blue bracket quarterfinals. Hovda's run came to an end, as Pethybridge won in two sets, 6-4, 6-4.Â
