HENDERSON, Nev. - Round one went very well for the Gaels at the Lake Las Vegas Intercollegiate hosted by Coastal Carolina University on Monday. Saint Mary's finished day one in first place among 14 teams at 12-under par at the 7204-yard, par-72 Reflection Bay Golf Club in Henderson, including No. 37 UAB and No. 39 Utah.

Michael Slesinski finished atop the leaderboard at 8-under par with a 64 on day one. His teammates Dylan VanderVeer and Connor Reis are tied for 10th as they each shot a 69 to finish 3-under par. 

Slesinski accomplished the rare feat of nine birdies in round one, and thus the Gaels had the second-most as a team with 23, just behind West Virginia. Slesinski was also 6-under on par fours and the Gaels as a whole were tops at 7-under on par fours. Reis was one of only eight golfers to make a birdie on the day.
