LAST TIME OUT
The Gaels played their last WCC contest in Provo against the Cougars, and ended their stretch of six-straight road games with a 66-41 loss to BYU.

The Gaels had their moments against the Cougars, with defensive stretches like the beginning of the third quarter where they forced eight BYU turnovers and kept them scoreless for over six minutes but couldn't come back against the Cougars.

Saint Mary's led for the first three minutes of the game before BYU took the lead for good with 6:27 to go in the first quarter.

Taycee Wedin was the only Gael to score in double figures, finishing with 10 points, and hitting two more three pointers as she extends her WCC record to 354 made threes.

ABOUT LMU
The Lions have not been able to parlay their strong play in last season's WCC tournament into success this season, though they are still just in year two of Head Coach Aarika Hughes tenure. After defeating Pepperdine and SMC in last year's tournament, they were eliminated by Portland in the third round.

LMU is led in scoring by grad student Ariel Johnson's 13.3 points per game, and junior Alexis Mark's 10.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.

The Gaels are 54-23 all time against the Lions and 27-9 at home in their history vs. LMU.

ABOUT PEPPERDINE
The Waves return four out of the starting five from last season. Ally Stedman led the squad last season in scoring at 11.0 points per game and had 31 steals, which was good for first on the team. She was named to the 2021-22 WCC All-Freshman team. She again leads the team in points per game at 16.

Redshirt senior forward Becky Obinma is also back for the Waves after leading the squad in rebounds with 6.3 per game. Obinma also led the squad in blocks with 40 (1.7 per game), which finished out the year third in the WCC.

Meaali'i Amosa also returns to Malibu, after moving into a starting role as a freshman. She led the Waves in field goal percentage (.490) and averaged 5.6 points per game. Amosa was the second-leading rebounder, averaging 6.2 per game and also had 12 blocked shots and currently leads the team in rebounds per game at 6.3.
