PITTSBURG, Calif. – Saint Mary's Baseball has found an artificial turf field to play on this weekend, moving a double header with Xavier to Saturday, March 11 at Pittsburg High School.
 
The Gaels will use Joseph P. Arrenivar Field in Pittsburg, Calif. due to wet conditions at Louis Guitso Field.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's Baseball split a double header with Central Michigan this past Sunday. It was another fantastic pitching performance for junior Derik Eaquinto in SMC's win.
 
He spun six scoreless innings allowing just three hits and one walk while striking out eight batters. Connor Linchey threw three shutout innings to collect his first save as a Gael in Saint Mary's 6-0 win. The senior out of San Ramon High allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out three batters.
 
In game two the Gaels again jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but Central Michigan would move ahead and keep SMC from tying or taking the lead every time they cut it to one run in a 12-6 loss.
 
ABOUT XAVIER
The Musketeers return the core from last season's bullpen that posted a new school record of 482 strikeouts. Among the returners, Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Luke Bell's 59 strikeouts from last season led the way. Bell made 25 appearances for the Musketeers, including a team-high 10 starts, posting a 4-0 record. He had a 4.31 ERA through 56.1 innings pitched.
 
Bryce Barnett (40), Jared Gadd (38) and Jonathan Kelly (32) are key contributors to last season's strikeout record also return for Xavier. RHP Ethan Bosacker returns for the Musketeers after sitting out last season due to injury. Bosacker was last in action in 2021, making 12 appearance, including 10 starts, with an ERA of 3.34 through 62.0 innings pitched and 53 strikeouts.
 
Garrett Schultz has made every start at center field, batting lead-off for the Musketeers in 12 games. Schultz has 12 hits and nine walks on the season, driving in a team-high nine RBI. He's reached safely in all 13 games this season.
