MORAGA, Calif. — The most jam-packed week at home has arrived for Saint Mary's beach volleyball, with plenty of chances to see the Gaels at their home beach courts. SMC will play four matches at home, beginning on Thursday at 10:00 am against San Jose State. They will also welcome in Sacramento State, #9 Cal, and Cabrillo College over the course of the week, concluding on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
Saint Mary's played at Stanford and Sacramento State last week, going 1-3 on the week. They opened with a pair of ranked matches against #17 Tulane and #10 Stanford, and finished up with Concordia and Sacramento State on Saturday. Their victory came against the Hornets, where the team swept past Sac State to the tune of a 5-0 win. There has been a lot of dominance for Saint Mary's against Sacramento State over the years, as the Gaels are 10-0 all-time against the Hornets since the inception of the program in 2013.
 
THE FINAL WEEKS
The regular season is winding down for the Gaels, who have just two weeks left of the regular season before the WCC Championship on April 27-28. There will be one more additional home match for the Gaels on April 22 against Sierra College, one more WCC matchup against Santa Clara, and two more ranked matchups in #6 Grand Canyon and #9 Cal. All of that should help test the Gaels sufficiently enough for the grind of the WCC Championship, where they will have to get past Pepperdine and LMU.
 
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS
San Jose State plays in the Southland Conference, but is 6-0 on the year against WCC teams. This week marks their final week of competition before their conference tournament in Texas. Sacramento State went 3-3 at home this past weekend, which included hosting Saint Mary's. Like SJSU, this is a final tune-up before the Big West Tournament, which takes place in Hawaii. #9 Cal just won three matches at the Pac-12 North Invite, including wins over Arizona State and Stanford to cap off a thrilling weekend. Their senior day takes place one day before taking on the Gaels when they welcome in USF. Cabrillo College is on a tear at the JC level, going 13-1, but their one loss came in their only match against a DI this year (Santa Clara).
