BREMERTON, Wash. - The Saint Mary's Golf Team has headed north to Washington State on in preparation for the West Coast Conference Tournament to be held April 27-29 in Bremerton, Wash.
This year's event is being contested at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, just west of Seattle. The Olympic Course at Gold Mountain is dramatically sculpted within a dense evergreen forest nestled just above Puget Sound and measures in at over 7,100 yards. The Olympic Course, host of the 2011 US Junior Amateur won by Jordan Spieth, is a demanding yet fair test of undulating golf with ample driving corridors and unique options for approaching each green.
The WCC Tournament has been a place of success for the Gaels in previous years having won the team championship in 2012, 2013, and 2016 along with an individual placing first in 2016, 2012, 2008, 2005, 1993, and 1984. Most recent honors for the Saint Mary's team at the WCC Tournament have been Ethan Ashbrook's T8 and T3 finishes in 2019 and 2021 respectively along with Kristian Bressum's WCC Freshman of the Year title just last year.
After a fifth-place finish in Utah last week and Mitchell Hoey's recognition as Bay Alarm's Student-Athlete of the Week, the Saint Mary's Men's Golf Team is going into the conference tournament with great momentum. The weather will be significantly warmer than it was in Utah which will help produce great playing conditions.
The Gaels will get an early start to their first round with groups teeing off at 7:30 am PST on Thursday. The lineup begins with Kristian Bressum followed by Connor Reis, Mitchell Hoey, Henry Fitzhugh, and Ethan Ashbrook. The alternate player is freshman Aidan Lee, who can be substituted into the playing rotation between rounds.
