FOLSOM, Calif. – The Gaels made great strides this weekend as they took to the water once again on Lake Natoma as they competed Saturday and Sunday in the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championship.
The teams competed in 10 races over the course of the weekend, as all the boats improved on their best times this season.
Both varsity and novice 4 boats stole the show this weekend, as they raced consistently across the two days on Lake Natoma.
Saturday's racing was highlighted by a heat win in heat 2 of the Novice 4 as SMC won the heat with a time of 7:50.14.
On Sunday, both 4 boats finished 2
nd in their respective finals, as the Varsity 4 crossed the line in the petite final with a 8:21.49, as the novice four finished with a 8:17.47.
