VANCOUVER LAKE, Wash. – Saint Mary's Women's Rowing hit the water in Washington today as they faced off against the Portland Pilots and the SeattleU Redhawks.

It was a tricky day for everyone involved as the choppy waters created some difficult racing.

The star of the show for SMC Saturday was the varsity four boat, as they significantly improved their margin of victory over Portland from their last meeting together earlier in the season. The varsity four boat, consisting of Madison Sciba (cox), Kaitlin Quezon, Kiki Koeppen, Leah Ohms, and Maddison Potts handily beat the Pilots by 14 seconds with a time of 9:39.3.

"It was a tricky day out on Vancouver Lake with challenging conditions but our boats fought hard and learned some important lessons. Our Varsity 4+ were the stars of the day, increasing their margin on Portland from last month and rowing a really nice, clean race. This race was the end of our Easter break camp and we got a lot done rowing in Portland all week. We'll get back to Moraga ready to work and prepare for WIRAs in three short weeks!"

Saint Mary's Women's Rowing have a few weeks off to train and prepare for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships which will take place on April 29 and 30^th on Lake Natoma.
