MGOLF | Lazarski Makes Run at Gobbler Amateur Title, Places 2nd at 10-under

TUCSON, Ariz. - On Tuesday, November 26th, Saint Mary's very own Avery Lazarski finished in second place in the 2024 Gobbler Amateur at Sewailo Golf Club in Arizona. After shooting an opening round of 73 (+1), Lazarski bounced back with two stellar rounds under par including a 7-under second round and a 4-under final round on Tuesday. Lazaraski was just one stroke off the top spot but shot up the leaderboard the final two days for a top-two finish.

"What an amazing display of golf from Avery. I don't remember seeing a player put up back-to-back rounds without a bogey that included nine birdies and an eagle", said Gaels head coach Scott Hardy. "Avery has been working hard and putting in the hours needed to get his game to where it is now. With his work ethic and love for the game, I am sure he will continue to impress and play high level golf. What a great way to start the winter off-season".
The Las Vegas native was in the team's starting lineup in all five events this fall as Saint Mary's recorded three top-five finishes. They will kickoff their spring 2025 season the first week of February at the National Invitational Tournament hosted by Arizona. The full 2025 spring schedule can be found at smcgaels.com.
