INDIO, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team continues their individual success over the winter break as sophomore Avery Lazarski rallied with a final round 68 (-4) to finish tied for second at the Coachella Amateur at Terra Lago Golf Club. 

The second year Gael out of Las Vegas finished the three round event at 10-under-par and got off to a hot start with a tournament low 67 (-5) in the opening round on Monday which included three birdies in his final six holes. After a 71 (-1) on Tuesday, Lazarski had some work to do to get himself in contention for the tournament title. As a result, he put together a bogey free final round and eagled the par 5 17th to jump to 10-under and finish in a tie for second place in a deep field of 70+ golfers. "It's great to see our players out competing successfully this winter. Good golf is contagious on a team and we are building momentum for the spring season" said Gaels head coach Scott Hardy. "I really like the fact that we are using this break to work and get better, it shows me how determined this group is. I can't wait to see their success carry over when our tournament play starts again in Tucson on February 3rd" (Hardy). 

Lazarski was a consistent member of the team's starting five during the fall season, playing in all five events and recording a pair of top-15 finishes. He helped Saint Mary's to three top-five finishes as the Gaels will kickoff their spring season on February 3rd in the National Invitational Tournament hosted by the University of Arizona.
