Saint Mary's went into this race with two Gaels, Freshman Katelyn Robertson and, for the second time in her career, Hathaway Scarpine, being named to the annual Preseason All-WCC team. Both these members were part of the varsity eight boat that clocked in at 6:51.0, taking second place, and competed 4.4 seconds faster than their West Coast Conference competitors Portland.
The second varsity eight boat that consist od two first year walk-ons, also took second place, only 0.9 seconds away from first place.
SMC's varsity four finished in third place and the Gaels had a novice boat compete at the Sacramento Invite.
