4/11/2024 10:27:00 AM | Men's Golf
MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Golf will not have to travel far for their final tune up before postseason play, as they head to Davis to take part in the El Macero Classic, taking place from April 12 - 14 at the El Macero Golf Course. It will be the first time that the Gaels have taken part in this event since 2021, when they took a share of the tournament title with host UC Davis.
The Gaels are coming off of their first top-5 finish of the Spring, and their fifth of the season as a whole, at the Missouri Tiger Intercollegiate. Sparked by strong performances by Connor Reis (-4) and Kristian Bressum (E), the Gaels jumped two spots in the final 18 holes to earn the top-5 spot.
This event's lineup for the Gaels will once again feature Reis and Bressum, as well as Jack Jerge, Aidan Lee and Mitchell Hoey. It is the same lineup that Saint Mary's used in the Tiger Intercollegiate. Zack Missigman will round out the group of Gaels, playing as an individual.
The event will feature a bevy of West Coast golf programs, including WCC foes Gonzaga, Pacific and defending El Macero Classic Champs, San Dego. The El Macero Golf Course is a Parkland Style course playing at 6,862 yards, designed by legendary West Coast Golf Course Architect Bob E. Baldock. Built in 1961, the course has hosted the likes of Tiger Woods, and even Ronald Reagan, who was a regular there when serving as California's Governor.
The event will tee off at 8:30 AM on Friday, April 12, with the first Gael, Mitchell Hoey, teeing off at 9:35 AM. Follow along throughout all three rounds here.
