WTEN | Gaels on the Road to Finish Out the Season

MORAGA, Calif. - The Saint Mary's Women's Tennis team is in their final stretch of the season as they take on LMU this Friday and No. 8 Pepperdine on Saturday.

LAST TIMEOUT
The Gaels competed back-to-back days in Moraga, after having to reschedule their match against USF due to weather conditions. SMC swept both Santa Clara and the University of San Francisco improving their conference record to 5-1. 
 
Saint Mary's went head-to-head against the Dons where they secured the doubles point with wins coming from duo Iman Khan and Olivia Rook 6-4 and duo Stefanie Silva and Sofia Daryaie 6-4. 
 
MiaAngelina Ruja finished first for the singles, defeating Hana Gamracy 6-2, 6-1 and Daryaie outlasted her opponent 6-1, 6-2, to give the Gaels a three point lead. 
 
Juliette Daries secured the match point by taking down Alicia Yue 6-1, 6-1. 
 
ABOUT LMU
The Lions have bounced back and forth between wins and losses this season, including a three game win streak being their longest consecutive wins all taken place in their home courts. Though the team lost, LMU has competed against three nationally ranked teams, The team has competed against multiple ranked teams, No. 29 UCLA, No. 7 Pepperdine, and No. 15 San Diego. Prior to conference play, the Lions were selected to finish third overall, with Senior Stefania Rogozinska-Dzik being one of the honorees. 
 
ABOUT No. 8 PEPPERDINE
The Waves are currently ranked No. 8, sitting with an overall record of 13-6 and a 5-0 conference record. Overall, the team has a 7-5 record when competing against ranked teams. In the past two weeks, Pepperdine has lost to No. 5 Stanford 4-0, No. 10 Cal 4-3, and No. 15 UCLA 4-3. 
 
Pepperdine is one of two teams in the WCC to remain undefeated. After defeating Portland and Gonzaga, the Waves have won 75 consecutive dual matches against West Coast Conference opponents. They look to continue their streak as they go head-to-head with the only other remaining undefeated team in the conference, No. 21 San Diego.
