GOLF | Reis and Bressum Named to the All-WCC Team, Jerge Named Honorable Mention

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO — After a fourth place finish at the WCC Tournament, the Saint Mary's Gaels Golf Team had three student-athletes recognized on the All-Conference team, as Connor Reis and Kristian Bressum were both named as All-WCC honorees, while Jack Jerge was named as an honorable mention all-conference selectee. This is a huge positive step for the Golf program that had not had a single All-WCC honoree since 2021. This is the first time since 2012 that the Gaels have had three named to the All-WCC team.

Junior Connor Reis competed in every event for the Gaels this season, and completed this season as the Gael highest ranked golfer, according to ranking system Spikemark. Reis had four top-10 finishes on the season, and narrowly missed a fifth at the WCC Tournament last week, where he placed 11th. Three of his four top-10 came in successive tournaments in late September/October, opening this stretch up with a win at the Nick Watney Invitational in Fresno, followed by a seventh place finish at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by Cal, and a second place finish at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational. Over those nine rounds, Reis shot a combined -44, including a program record 62 at the Nick Watney. Reis finished his season with a 71.2 18 hole scoring average.

Another junior, Kristian Bressum also appeared in every event for Saint Mary's this season, and led the team with a 70.9 scoring average. He finished in the top-10 in four different tournaments this season, doing so twice in the fall and twice in the spring, including a sixth place finish at the WCC tournament. His best tournament of the season was the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, where he placed fourth overall with a score of -14, tying the program record score of 62 set by Connor Reis two weeks prior. At the conference tournament, Bressum found himself as the leader of the pack through 27 holes, eventually settling into a sixth place finish with a stellar score of -8.

Rounding out the group is honorable mention honoree and true freshman Jack Jerge. Jerge appeared in 12 of 14 events for the Gaels, and really turned it on in the tail end of his season. After shooting -9 for his best tournament of the fall at the White Sands Bahamas Invitational, Jerge closed out his Spring with three straight tournaments with under par finishes. In his final two tournaments of the season, Jerge paced the Gaels with a third place finish at the El Macero Classic, leading the Gaels to a team first place finish, and a fourth place finish at the WCCs. Just in his first year of collegiate golf, Jerge represents the extremely bright future of the SMC Golf program.
