MORAGA, Calif. — Coming off of their third place finish at WCCs, Saint Mary's Beach Volleyball has already turned its focus to next season with the signing of three freshmen for the 2024-25 campaign. Sophia Fields, Sierra Garza and Greta Kesmodel will all be heading to Moraga in the fall, with the hope to make lasting impacts on the program.
Sophia Fields, 5-10, Central Valley Christian, Visalia, Calif.
Coming to Moraga from Visalia, Sophia Fields prepped at Central Valley Christian while playing club volleyball for Whiplash Volleyball Club. A setter for her school's indoor team, Fields totalled 1321 assists, 119 aces and 368 digs as a full rotation setter. She also led her school's beach team to a 8-5 record and a trip to the CIF Central Section Division Playoffs in their inaugural campaign.
Sierra Garza, 5-8, Clovis North HS, Fresno, Calif.
Another central valley product, Sierra Garza came to Saint Mary's from Clovis North High School and played club beach volleyball for Shorebreak Volleyball Club. A defensive specialist on the indoor side, Garza tallied 220 digs, taking her team twice to the DII NorCal Tournament, and winning it in 2022. This past summer, Sierra was part of the bronze medal winning duo at the 18u Pismo CBVA Tournament.
Greta Kesmodel, 5-9, Glenbrook North HS, Glenbrook, Ill.
Hailing from the Land of Lincoln, Greta Kesmodel will make her way to Moraga from Glenbrook, Illinois. She played indoor volleyball for three years at Glenbrook North HS, before focusing solely on beach in her senior campaign. Having demonstrated both excellent hitting and passing ability in both her beach and indoor prep careers, Kesmodel will be a valuable asset for the Gaels roster.
