VB | Browning Signs Three-Year Contract Extension with the Gaels

MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's Head Volleyball Coach Rob Browning has been a staple in Moraga who is now entering his 20th season at the helm. The longest tenured and winningest coach in program history, Browning will be able to extend both of those claims, as just announced, he has signed a three-year contract extension at Saint Mary's through the 2026 season.

Grateful to continue his tenure with Saint Mary's Volleyball Coach Browning expressed his gratitude:

"Thank you to Mike Matoso and his staff for their leadership and for trusting me to continue to lead this team for the next three seasons. Thanks also to the College and the board of trustees for providing me and my family the opportunity to be at Saint Mary's. These amazing young women on our team add so much value to the College—on the court, in the classroom, and in the community."

"Rob has been synonymous with success around the Saint Mary's Volleyball program," Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Matoso said. "His dedication to the success of our student-athletes both on and off the court remains strong, and we look forward to what he can do for the program in the future."

Browning has amassed 273 wins over his 19 years at the helm of the SMC Volleyball program, nearly double the next closest coach in program history. He has led the Gaels to five NCAA Tournament Appearances and their lone WCC Title in 2009. He has recruited and coached 18 first team All-WCC honorees, and 33 WCC All-Academic selectees.

"The future of Saint Mary's Volleyball is as bright as ever!" exclaimed Coach Browning, "The team we have now, and the recruits we have coming in the next two years, are outstanding. I am as excited about this team—and the future of SMCVB—as I've ever been in my 19 years here."

He went on to say:

"I take great pride in knowing how Saint Mary's Volleyball has positively contributed to the campus community and the overall mission of Saint Mary's College. I look forward to continuing this legacy with the Gaels these next three years."

Browning and the Gaels will look to build off of their 2023 campaign that saw them pick up their best finish in the WCC in five years. The 2024 season will open up in the final weekend of August.
