MORAGA, Calif. - On Thursday, July 25th, the 2023-24 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars for Division I were announced with Mitchell Hoey and Aidan Lee representing Saint Mary's as the program's two recipients for their success on the course and in the classroom. 

To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.

Hoey competed in 11 of the team's 13 events this past season and finished with a 72.7 stroke average. He recorded three top-10 finishes and placed a season best 4th at the Nick Watney Invitational hosted by Fresno State. There, Hoey was the team's second best finisher in a tie for 4th place at 11-under-par, recording back-to-back rounds of 4-under-par to help the Gaels win the tournament title. 

In just his second season with the program, Aidan Lee recorded two top-10 finishes on the year and recorded a season low 8-under-par at the Cowboy Classic. He concluded his sophomore season with a 73.2 stroke average in 12 events and was also a postseason participant for the Gaels, finishing 3-over-par at the 2024 WCC Championships good for a top-25 finish.
