SAMMAMISH, Wash. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team traveled to the Pacific Northwest this week to compete in The Tindall hosted by the University of Washington. The Gaels shaved off four strokes from the opening round to climb their way into the top-10 with a final team score of 856 (+4) for a 9th place finish. Connor Reis and Aidan Lee placed inside the top-25 as the team's top finishers.
DAY ONE (Rounds 1 and 2)
Saint Mary's finished the opening round with a 288 (+4) team score with the low score coming from senior Connor Reis. Reis was the only Gael to shoot even par or better in his first 18 holes as the next best finisher was sophomore Avery Lazarski at 1-over-par. In similar fashion to the team's first tournament weeks prior the Gaels bounced back in the afternoon round to keep them in the mix heading into the final day.
Leading the charge was third year member Aidan Lee who recorded the team's low round of the tournament at 4-under-par. His round featured five birdies and an eagle on the par 5 11th. Senior Zack Missigman was the next best finisher at even par with four birdies to help the Gaels to a 284 (E) second round.
DAY TWO (Final round)
Saint Mary's kicked off the final round in good form with six total birdies in their first five holes. Reis and Missigman combined for four of those six birdies as they each started 2-under through their first three holes. As a team, the Gaels got as low as 5-under-par on the day but slipped back to even par by the end of the round with some costly bogeys and a pair of doubles on the tail end of the front nine. They would hold steady in the nine spot with another round of even par to finish ahead of tournament host Washington.
Reis recorded his first round under par of the tournament, finishing with the team's lowest score of the day at 69 (-2). Lee followed at even par and Lazarski and first year transfer Ian Bruchhauser rounded out the scoring at 1-over-par. Lee finished the three round event at 2-under-par good for t-23rd while Reis was right behind him at 1-under for t-25th.
Saint Mary's has competed in this event for four straight years and this goes down as their best team finish since 2021 and their second top-10. Full team results can be found below:
LOOKING AHEAD
The Gaels will jump right back into action next week and partake in the Mark Simpson Invitational hosted by Colorado. First round action is slated for Monday, September 30th and live scoring and round-by-round leaderboards can be found at smcgaels.com.
