GREENWOOD, IN – Congratulations to Gaels Volleyball standouts
Clarissa Klein,
Katherine Gee,
Hannah Taylor and
Madi Zorn on being named College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team members. The Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
An honorable mention All-WCC selection, Clarissa Klein saw big jumps in her kill and hitting percentage numbers this season, as she became an efficient and powerful pin hitter this year. Klein finished third on the Gaels in kills and blocks, and likely could've finished even higher if it weren't for an injury costing her the final week of the season. Klein did all of this while maintaining a 3.53 GPA as an entrepreneurship major.Â
Katherine Gee spent time as both the Gaels starting libero as well as a back row defensive specialist off the bench. She turned heads at the start of the season with three 20+ dig matches in her first seven matches as a Gael, including an incredible 29 in a win over Air Force. She continued to contribute throughout the season, finishing with 187 total digs, one of six Gaels to tally triple digit digs. In her first year at SMC, Gee also maintained a 3.64 GPA as a business administration major.Â
Hannah Taylor continued her impressive offensive showing in her second season with the Gaels. She logged 250+ kills for the second consecutive season, bringing her to 502 for her SMC career. This year, Taylor ranked second on the team in kills and fourth in blocks, and maintained a 3.61 major as a health science major.Â
Last, but certainly not least, Madi Zorn took a big step forward in her career, serving as one of the Gaels two setters in their 6-2 rotation. Zorn recorded 402 assists, good for second on the team, 28 service aces, good for third, and 145 digs. She recorded three assist-dig double-doubles, including two in the same week in wins over San Francisco and Santa Clara. Zorn holds an impressive 3.83 GPA as a business administration major.Â
