Danner Nets First Two Goals as a Gael, Named Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week

MORAGA, Calif. — For the second time in 2025, a Saint Mary's Men's Soccer player has been named the Shamrock Office Solutions Student-Athlete of the Week, as after leading the Gaels to an unbeaten week, Sam Danner has earned the honor for the first time in his career. Danner joins his teammate TJ Dilley as Gaels Men's Soccer players who have won this award this season.
Danner helped the Gaels to a four point weekend with a pair of timely goals. The transfer from Fairfield scored his first goal of the week and as a Gael in Saint Mary's first win of the year over Santa Clara, collecting a cross in the 18 yard box and firing a shot off the crossbar, down and in. The goal came just 76 seconds into the second half, but would break a 1-1 stalemate, and eventually proved to be the winner for Saint Mary's. He followed that up by scoring his second goal, an equalizer late in first half, when he collected a deflection just outside the 18, and fired a low driven strike into the bottom right corner to knot things up at 2-2 with LMU, the score that the match would eventually end at. With two goals and an assist for the season, Danner now ranks second on the team for goals scored and points (5).
