MBB | Gaels Appear at No. 29 in First NCAA NET Rankings of the Season

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The first month of the 2025-26 College Basketball season is in the books, with Saint Mary's winners of eight of their first nine contests. With the start of December comes the first NET Rankings of the year, with the Gaels checking in at 29th in the 365 teams field. Started in the 2018-19 season to replace RPI, the NET Rankings serve as the primary sorting tool for Division I men's basketball. This system uses a quadrant system to evaluate the value of each win or loss:
A season ago, the Gaels opened up at 25th in the NET, and rose as high as 56th by the end of December, before rattling off wins in 17 of their final 18 regular season contests, climbing to a season-best NET of 16th. Ultimately, the Gaels finished the year at 23rd in the NET. Thus far this year, the Gaels have logged just one quad one game (Vanderbilt) and one quad two game (Virginia Tech), while going 6-0 in quad three and four games. Wichita State currently sits at 104th in the NET, and needs to move within the top-100 for that win to be classified as quad two rather than quad three. The program record for NET rankings is 6th, back in the 2022-23 campaign.

- Quadrant 1 Game: Home vs. NET 1-30, Neutral vs. NET 1-50, Away vs. NET 1-75
- Quadrant 2: Home 31-75 vs. NET, Neutral vs. NET 51-100, Away vs. NET 76-135
- Quadrant 3: Home vs. NET 76-160, Neutral vs. NET 101-200, Away vs. NET 135-240
