MORAGA, Calif. — Saint Mary's head men's basketball coach Mickey McConnell has added another talented piece to his 2026-27 roster, with the addition of Myles Che. A 6-3 guard originally from Walnut, California, Che has a proven track record, with 54 starts over his first two collegiate seasons of action.
"We're excited to welcome Myles to our program and strengthen our backcourt. He brings valuable experience from being a part of winning programs, making him an ideal addition to our team." noted coach McConnell, "His skill set and personality will fit seamlessly with our group, and we can't wait for him to arrive on campus this summer."
Che spent last season at UNLV, but did not see the court after suffering a preseason injury. Prior to his stop in Las Vegas, however, Che was an All-Big West honorable mention performer at UC Irvine as a sophomore. Appearing and starting in 38 of the Anteaters 39 games in their epic 32-7 campaign, Che averaged 12.1 points per game, while shooting a team-best 42.9% (54-for-126) from three. He also finished second best on the team with 2.8 assists per game and converted at an 84.1% clip from the charity stripe. For the Anteaters, Che most notably dropped 31 points against UC Davis on just 11 shots, connecting on 10 of those including a 3-3 clip from beyond the arc and a strong 8-9 line from the stripe, one of his four 20+ point performances for UCI.
Beginning his collegiate career at Chattanooga, Che split time between true freshman starter and dynamic scorer off the bench. He instantly made a name for himself on the Mocs with a 22 point showing in just his second collegiate game against Louisville. Che finished out his freshman campaign averaging 7.5 PPG and shooting 52.7% from the field, second best on the team.
Originally from Walnut, California, just east of Los Angeles, Che opted to finish out his prep career at The Skills Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. There, he averaged nearly 15 points and eight assists per contest, helping lead his team to a 38-3 record and the 2023 Circuit National Championship. Che also spent time at Fairmont Prep in Southern California.
Che becomes the second guard to sign out of the portal with Coach Mickey McConnell and the Gaels, along with Luke Fennell.
