BVB | Gaels Tinker With Lineup, Drop Both in Stanford Finale
3/15/2025 8:40:00 PM | Women's Beach Volleyball
STANFORD, Calif. — Saint Mary's (7-10) continues to work through their lineup options, with two more new looks on the sand in Silicon Valley today, as the Gaels dropped a pair against Utah (12-4) and #5 Stanford (13-5). The Gaels took a point against the Utes, before suffering their first sweep since last falling to Stanford on the road two weeks ago.
Against the Utes, the Gaels switched Grace Travis and Delaney Nicholls to the four spot, and Genevieve Bane and Hannah Glick down to the five spot. Unfortunately, neither pair could pick up a win against Utah, as both would fall again, as they did yesterday. The Gaels lone win vs the Utes today came from the three spot, as Angelina Bour and Nya Crump would log their second win playing together at three spot in three sets. Ultimately, the Gaels would fall 4-1 to the Utes for the second straight day.
In the weekend finale, the Gaels tried Renee Nachtigall and Sarah Incitti together at the fives for the first time together. The new pair in the lineup couldn't get anything going against the fifth ranked Cardinal, but neither could any of the Gaels pairings, eventually being swept by Stanford for the second time this season. Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch put up the best fight, falling 21-16, 21-19.
The Gaels will get their first action at home next weekend, welcoming in Pacific and Santa Clara to Shaw and Knudsen Courts for a pair of WCC bouts. Currently, the Gaels sit at 1-0 in WCC play with a win in Hawaii over San Francisco.
