BVB | Gaels Battle Tough Against Pair of Ranked Opponents

WAIKIKI, Hawaii — The four game winning streak for the Gaels (7-5) came to an end today in Waikiki, as Saint Mary's battled it out with a pair of ranked opponents, but fell to 15th ranked Hawaii Rainbow Wahine (4-7) and the 17th ranked Washington Huskies (6-6). The Gaels fell to Hawaii by a narrow 3-2 margin, and to Washington by a 4-1 scoreline.

Hawaii won the first three points to secure the victory in game one today, but the Gaels continued to battle, as the fives (Delaney Nicholls/Grace Travis) and the threes (Sedona Sherman/Angelina Bour) both forced a third set, before ultimately winning to earn the 3-2 scoreline. The Nicholls/Travis win was their third straight in the five spot, while the Sherman/Bour win was their second in a row.

Against Washington, the Gaels again fell behind 3-0, suffering the loss, but Allie Cataldo and Hannah Couch earned their first win of the day, bringing the final score to 4-1. Cataldo and Couch continue to be the Gaels most consistent pair on the year, now at 9-3 for the season.

The Gaels will take on Tulane tomorrow before starting bracket play of the Queen's Cup.
