MORAGA, Calif. - After coming off of their best team finish of the 2024-25 season, Saint Mary's will head to Davis to compete in the El Macero Classic as their final event before the 2025 WCC Championships. The Gaels will head to El Macero Country Club and defend their title after winning the event in 2024 and they'll be in some of the best form they've been in all season.
Head coach Scott Hardy and his group battled cold and windy conditions in Columbia, Missouri to place second in last week's Tiger Invitational. They will ride into Davis with the same starting five they've had for the previous three tournaments with Aidan Lee anchoring the top spot.
This week's event will feature a more professional-like format with 18 holes per day rather than the traditional 36 holes on the opening day as we see in the majority of college events. The energy should be good and high from the competing programs as the field will play alongside The Masters tournament into the weekend, with a champion crowned on Sunday.

LAST TIME OUT (2nd place at Tiger Invitational)
Spring has sprung here in California but Saint Mary's took one more trip out east to compete in Missouri's Tiger Invitational which featured high winds and mid-30 temperatures. Despite the playing conditions, the Gaels starting five minimized big holes and led the field in total pars to play their way into second place after the first day of competition.
Senior Connor Reis helped solidify the team's top-two finish with a final round 67 (-3) to jump fifteen spots and finish t-5th individually for his best finish of the year. Reis recorded four birdies and just one bogey to complete a solid week for his second top-ten finish of the year. Aidan Lee, Avery Lazarski and Zack Missigman rounded out the rest of the scoring for Saint Mary's as all three players finished inside the top-20.
After finishing the first round of last year's El Macero Classic in ninth place, the Gaels shaved off 21 strokes to record back-to-back rounds of two-under-par and win the tournament title by seven strokes. Connor Reis and Aidan Lee represent the two returners from last year's squad in that event as they will look to lead the charge this weekend.
Friday's round will tee off at 8:30 AM with the Gaels starting five going off of one from 8:30-9:26 AM, while James Williams will tee off on the first hole at 10:50 AM as the team's lone individual.
