WTEN | Gaels Go Down to the Wire with Broncos but Fall 4-3 in WCC Action

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Saint Mary's headed south to take on Santa Clara looking to end a two-match skid but fell in a dramatic four-hour affair as Santa Clara's Velizara Fileva defeated Juliette Daries in the third set to clinch the 4-3 victory. After dropping the doubles point and going down 3-1, Saint Mary's stormed back with singles victories from Stefanie Silva and Madison Weekley to knot the match up at three. Silva defeated Anna Rahman in straight sets after taking the tiebreaker in the first, 7-3. Weekley was also pushed by Jamie Pope but came out on top 7-5 6-2. 

It all came down to Juliette Daries and Velizara Fileva with both teams watching. After dropping the first set, Daries won a thriller in the second with a 7-5 tiebreaker. Both players would go deep into the third set as Daries tied the match at five. Fileva would hang on though and win back-to-back games to clinch the dramatic 7-5 third set and win the match for the Broncos. Full match results can be found below:
