STOCKTON, Calif. - The Saint Mary's men's golf team wrapped up day one of the 2026 Visit Stockton Invitational at Spanos Park on Monday in a tie for eighth place at two-over-par. The course played roughly two and a half strokes over par, as just four teams of the 18-team field finished round one in red figures. Saint Mary's fell to as low as tenth, at four-over, but solid rounds from Hudson Vedder and Trey Tuyo would pull the Gaels back to two-over and just four strokes out of the top three.Â
Tuyo started the day off hot with four birdies over his first seven holes to sit as low as three-under. Both Tuyo and Vedder made the turn under par, including an eagle for the Central Michigan transfer, Vedder, on the par-five sixth. Vedder finished his opening round of the week with three birdies and an eagle for a 69 (-3), his second lowest round as a Gael and the second best individual score of the day, sitting just two strokes off the tournament lead. Tuyo led the team with five birdies on the day to card a 71 (-1) with the other two counting scores for the Gaels coming from Inigo Izuzquiza (+2) and Sam Baumuller (+4).Â
Fellow West Coast Conference members Seattle U and Pacific sit at the top of the leaderboard with the Redhawks at seven-under and the Tigers a stroke back at six-under. Full round one scores and leaderboards can be found HERE.Â
LOOKING AHEAD
True freshman Will Hardy will get things going for the Gaels, teeing off of the par-four tenth Tuesday morning at 9:09 a.m. The rest of the tournament pairings can round two results can be found HERE.Â
