MBB | Harry Wessels Named Finalist for the 2025-26 Nolan Richardson Award

BOSTON, Mass. — As just announced by collegeinsider.com, senior center Harry Wessels has been named a finalist for the Nolan Richardson Award. The award is presented annually to a Division I player who is the heart and soul of his team and a leader on and off the court.
A rare breed in college basketball today, Wessels is a fourth year senior who has spent the entirety of his collegiate career at Saint Mary's. After serving as a reserve big man for his first three years, Wessels earned the starting role in his senior campaign, starting 22 of the Gaels 32 contests, including each of the final 21. The Boddington, West Australia native will graduate in the top-10 all-time for blocked shots, currently with 89 in his career. On top of that, Harry has taken on a leadership role as a team captain this year, and earned his first career WCC All-Academic nod.
The recipient of the annual award is determined by a 10-member voting committee, which consists of current and former head coaches, as well as two senior staff members of collegeinsider.com. The 2026 award will be announced in Indianapolis, IN, site of the men's Division I Basketball Championship.
